Confused over Mayoral election
Madam,
It appears that the chaos we see in world, federal and state politics has permeated our local Hay Shire Council.
I find it extraordinary, baffling and disappointing that the new council hasn’t seen fit to re- elect Mrs Dwyer for another term as Mayor.
My observations are that she has conducted herself with dignity and intelligence.
She has been a wonderful ambassador for Hay.
In saying this, I have no criticism of the newly appointed Mayor as an individual but surely a councillor should serve at least one term before being launched into the position of Mayor.
What is going on – why the need to remove a totally competent mayor and as the voting percentage showed, extremely popular?
Why fix something that isn’t broken?
It raises concerns as to the ability of some of the councillors to make sound, unbiased decisions in the best interest of the Hay Community and to gauge the feelings of the town and district.
In closing, I wish the new Mayor and Council a productive and compatible term ahead.
Yours in disappointment
Margaret Harvey.
