Flag follow up
A follow-up from my letter in last week’s Grazier.
Recently it was suggested to put the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags up. Correct me if wrong.
Has our Council ever thought about rewarding other nationalities with the same gesture?
Just to mention, our Italian community.
Here are some of the names of families who have brought millions of pounds and later dollars into our town, as well as provide employment: Ross Murone, Tony Murone, Peter Murone, Jim Trione, Frank Ruberto, Vince Ruberto, Sam Ruberto, Mark Ruberto, Vince Ruberto jnr, Tony Zambon, Frank Martinelli, Herb Pingiaro, Vince Perrotta, John Perrotta, Ralph Perrotta, Mario Perrotta, Mario Gargaro jnr and snr, Don Gargaro, Eddie Fattore, Frank Fattore, Con Fattore, Chessie Fattore, Rocco Prochillo, John Mirabelli. My apology to any family I may have missed. Surely these families need recognising as they have been here the same time as the rest of us in the best town in Australia?
Ask them if they would like their home country flag flown, and they will say, it is – the Australian flag.
We are one. We are many. We are Australian.
So Council, take all other flags down, leave the Australian flag there and no one will be insulted.
Thank you, Paul (Frog) Edwards
