Tribute to Jane
Dear Editor,
I would like to express a big tribute to one who has recently retired from her employment with Hay Shire Council – Jane Griffiths who laid down her pen after 47 years in their employ.
You had to have had some involvement with Council to really appreciate the fantastic job she did as one of the most senior people in the Council office for all those years.
Jane attended to the general public and helped many people with general inquiries and assisted them in filling in forms and witnessing signatures.
She became a most valuable part of the Council office over the years.
Outside of her paid employment, Jane shone in other areas such as the once annual Sportsman of the Year awards at the Bowling Club.
The time she put into the information on all the athletes nominated was remarkable and her contribution to the success of those nights was the key.
She also put in many hours of work for the Lions Football Club and her efforts were enormous.
Not to forget the annual efforts of the Biggest Morning Tea to raise money for cancer research.
Yes, Jane is a legend in her own time for all her efforts for the Hay community, and she can take a bow and enjoy her retirement.
I haven’t mentioned all the times she assisted me in my years as mayor.
It was great to have Jane by my side.
Enjoy your life, Jane.
Sincerely
Mick Beckwith.
