Bart makes $22,500

Jerilderie Working Dog Auction 2023

The Jerilderie Working Dog annual auction was held on Saturday, with 53 dogs presented for sale, in front of a large crowd. 40 dogs sold, to an average of $7,725.

For the second year running, top priced dog went to Forbes breeder Brad Pellow, with Lot 16 ‘Bart’ selling for $22,500. Bidding started strongly with an opening bid of $16,000 via online auction portal AuctionsPlus.

Two-year-old Bart is headed to Wilcannia, to an unnamed buyer.

Second highest dog went to Adrian Allbutt selling four-and-a-half-month-old ‘Droversdream Dolly’ for $19,000. This was the second last auction of the day, and bidding was a spirited battle between two keen buyers.

Local breeder Zac O’Neill sold his two-year-old Kelpie ‘Red’ after the auction for $9,000 to an Ivanhoe buyer.

Youngest vendor of the day was eight-year-old Tommy Lee, who sold his own trained 5-month-old dog ‘The Lees Echo’ for $5,500.

All proceeds from the sale go back to Jerilderie Apex to be distributed back into the local community.

After another successful Jerilderie Working Dog Auction lot 16 ‘Bart’ took the honours for highest sale price of $22,500.
