Blessing from the Vatican for Norma and Gail
Devout Christians, Norma and Gail Rosewarne received one of the highest honours possible form the Catholic Church.
“The Holy Father Francis cordially imparts the requested holy blessing, invoking through the intercession of the Virgin Mary an abundance of divine graces,” the blessings read.
Recently having sat down with Father Paul for a touching recorded interview, Gail’s carer Robyn from Deniliquin, sent it away to a friend she knows from the Vatican to hear of Norma and Gail’s lives and achievements.
To the shock and delight of Gail and Norma, they received their certificates from the Vatican on Friday.
Norma had always aspired to be a Catholic, her mother being a staunch lady of the faith.
Having attended Church of England throughout the years, she discussed her wish with Father Paul, who asked for her Christening Card. Upon replying that she did not have one, he directed her to appropriate places where she may procure her card.
Ending up communicating with the Archives in Canberra, who were very helpful, they discovered that her sister, Shirley June, was baptised two years before her, and her brother two years after.
So, whilst logic told them that she was most likely already baptised, Father Paul was more than happy to baptise Norma.
One recent Thursday, they headed to the Catholic Church, were Norma’s daughter and best friend Gail, stood to be her Godmother.
The pair are delighted, and still over the moon to have received the magnificent honour.
