The grand Dame of Pine Street turns 100

The Riverina Women’s Club has stood the test of time through rationing during World War 11, the depression, droughts, floods, pandemics, mice and white ants.

This year the grand old lady of Pine Street celebrates her one-hundredth year.

A plaque commemorating the centenary year was unveiled on Saturday evening by Her Excellency, Mrs Linda Hurley.

Mrs Hurley was accompanied by her husband, The Governor-General of Australia, His Excellency General, the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) who was asked to launch the Centenary booklet.

The celebratory dinner was held at the Waradgery Club.

Her Excellency, Mrs Linda Hurley officially unveiled the centenary plaque at the Riverina Women’s Club on Saturday. Mrs Jane McFarland gifted the house to the country women of Hay and district 100 years ago to be used as their home whilst they were in town for shopping, appointments or schooling.
