Local emergency services responded to two major incidents last Friday.

A truck containing fertiliser overturned on the Maude Road between Maude village and the Sturt Highway in the early hours of Friday morning.

When Rural Fire Service personnel and Hay Police responded they found approximately 30 tonnes of urea was spilled into a floodway.

Hay Shire Council attended to direct traffic through the incident area and commenced clean up works.

The truck was salvaged on Friday afternoon, and Council will next undertake repair work to the culvert structure.

There were no reports of injury to the driver.

A home in West Street was damaged by fire late on Friday morning, which was extinguished by NSW Fire Brigade.

The damage was contained to one end of the home, however resident Brooke Harman and her children managed to escape unharmed.

Police are continuing their investigations into the cause of the fire.
