Mad Max departs with a bang, and money for charity

They came, they contributed handsomely to the economy of Hay, became part of the community and when they left it was with a bang, in the form of the most spectacular and colourful fireworks display ever seen in country Australia.

The Underdown Productions crew working on Mad Max Furiosa started arriving in Hay in March and for two months have been welcome members of the local community. They personally funded the spectacular fireworks display on Saturday night to thank Hay for hosting them.

On top of this, the crew provided ingredients for Can Assist to cook and serve chicken kebabs and salads at the Bowling Club on Saturday afternoon, with all proceeds going to Can Assist. They also organised a raffle and secured items donated by local business houses.

Jane Griffiths is pictured receiving the cheque of $3000 on behalf of Can Assist from production runner, Rhys Hicks and production secretary Roxanne Sino.
