Bendigo Bank grant for pool

How do you make a whole group of children happy? Announce a $30,000 grant that will go towards building a kitchen, and drastically increasing amenities at Hay’s John Houston Memorial Swimming Pool.

The cheque was presented by Sandra Dolan and Elya Gargaro, of Bendigo Bank. David Webb, General Manager of Hay Shire Council, and Mayor Carol Oataway were present to receive the cheque.

The funds were made available through Bendigo Bank’s Community Grants Program. Stalwart volunteer and Amateur Swimming Club supporter Kerry Barnes applied for the grant on behalf of the Club, and said that the funds will benefit the Club greatly.

“This will mean that the new amenities will be able to be fitted out with a full kitchen, and everything that we will need to run canteens for carnivals and other functions,” Kerry said. “It is a lovely boon for the community.”

In his speech, Mr Webb thanked Bendigo Bank, with a special thank you to Kerry ror her hard work and initiative.
