Hay Cutters unstoppable in 2024 SIRU competition

Hay Cutters ran onto their home ground to take on Wagga Agricultural College (WAC) on Saturday. Harry Agar returned from injury back in full force.

He had a strong game, at one point skilfully busting through defence to get his try for the game.

Agar also got five conversions.

Hay was leading with an impressive 45 to nil at half time.

Ag College rallied their troops when the teams returned to the field, and scored the only points for the second half. This left the score at the final whistle sitting at 45-10.

Due to more discipline and heavy penalties given to the Cutters in the second half, Ag College was able to get over the line on two occasions.

“The way this season has panned out, the team has not played a lot of games,” Cutters Assistant Coach Matt Ireson said.

“With a focus on discipline, defence, and fitness, Cutters will keep on striding well towards the finals.

“WAC had a strong second half, and it is good to see the challenge brought to games to maximise performances and test the team as we get closer to the finals.”

Cutters now have a rest this weekend, with a bye, before taking on WAC once more, this time at Wagga’s home ground. Other try scorers were Oliver Cameron, Will Nadin, Thomas O’Rafferty, Tom Lilburne, Andrew Garvey and Will Brown. Hay Whipper Snippers celebrated their 10- year anniversary with a gala day on the weekend. Teams from Leeton, Wagga, West Wyalong/Grenfell and Griffith travelled to Hay to compete in the Gala day. Under 6, 8, 10 and 12 teams participated in the day.
