Twelve brave shooters battled the bristling weather conditions last weekend to take to the traps for Hay Gun Club’s June monthly shoot.

Conditions were far from ideal, with a constant howling cold wind blowing from the North making targets tricky to see and hit.

Despite the conditions, visitors travelled from Griffith, Leeton and Coleambally to compete in the two events on offer for the day.

The first event was the 75 target Champion of Champions, and the overall winner was Simon Gee with a score of 113/125. First in AA grade was split between Brian Doyle and Glen Kable on 112/125, A grade was won by Van Haidy on 97/125 and B grade by Jason Wall with a score of 95/125.

The second event was a 15 pair double rise and the overall winner was Phil Headon with a score of 27/30. First in AA grade was Glen Kable on 26/30, A grade was won by Simon Gee on 24/30, and B grade by Erik Geltch on 24/30. C grade was won by Jason Wall with a score of 21/30.

The race to secure the June High Gun was a tie between Phil Headon and Glen Kable who finished with a score of 138/155; the pair decided to split the win.
