Hay Lions’ clean sweep on home soil

Pride Round was a great round for Hay Lions Netball, with a clean sweep for all teams in the latest round of Golden Rivers Netball Competition.

A Grade by Lani Houston - Hay 56 defeated Macorna 47.

Hay had an impressive win over Macorna at home for the Pride Round.

Lions, although missing Toni Rivett in centre, had practised a new combination.

Maddie Mannes came into centre (Boys on Lachlan Coaches award) feeding the ball swiftly down the court and into the circle using her speed and agility.

Hannah Stewart (IGA Players Player) showed skill and confidence front cutting in the circle and putting goals in from a variety of positions.

Olivia Joyce (South Hay Hotel Umpires award) used her great perception skills to pick of numerous intercepts in defence creating turnovers and goals.

Sophie Stephens was awarded the Spirit of Pride award for constantly supporting her team mates and playing in the spirit of the game.

Kellie Walker used her height, experience and calm disposition to consistently get passes, goals and rebounds.

Jade Auldist played her role perfectly feeding strategic passes into goals.

Ellie Parr showed her versatility moving into GK and GD applying pressure to the attack, working closely with Ruby Stewart who with eyes on the ball picked off loose balls.

The win was a real team effort with all players showing their brilliance in the match and what a cohesive unit they are. Congratulations girls a great win.

B Grade by Talitha Brown - Hay 46 defeated Macorna 34.

B Grade started against Macorna strong, earning themselves a solid lead in the first quarter.

Keeping their composure for the whole game, B grade maintained the lead and come away with a great win 46-34.

Lucy Shea earned herself the Busch Family Player’s Player award for her endless intercepts through the entire game.

Lani Houston was given the Tantrum Hair and Beauty award for her quick hands and feet forever interrupting Macorna’s attacking plays.

Indi Hicks had pinpoint passes into the shooters, earning herself the New Crown Hotel award.

Emily Caughey was given the Pride Award, chosen by the umpires for continuous pressure on her player and every ball within reaching distance, coming up with plenty of turnovers.

The entire B grade team is continuing to improve and work better together each week.

B Reserve Grade by Leonnie Laracy - Hay 50 defeated Macorna 22.

B Reserve took the court determined to improve from their previous encounter with Macorna.

With a collective positive attitude and focus Hay took a solid lead and by half time it was 26-9. Rhiannon Moore was exceptional in WD earning her the Health Busch Players Player award. Trish Jamieson found her form and was sinking her long shots, and earned the Riverina Hotel award.

Leslee Grahame was intercepting everything across the transverse line and took out the Freight Masters Semi Trailer award.

Hay took a great win against a tough team 50-22.

C Grade by Lisa Lund - Hay 61 defeated Macorna 23.

C grade walked away with their first win for the season!

Lions came out guns blazing with a lead of 16 in the first quarter.

This gave them the confidence and boosted the team’s morale to continue their lead and finish the game strong, with an outstanding win 61 to 23 over Macorna.

Every single player played an exceptional game with all playing their part for the win.

They were hungry for their first win and with a remarkable game by Sophie Nuske who put pressure on Macorna’s defence with her endless intercepts and outstanding reading of the play.

This earnt her both Busch Family Players Player award and New Crown Hotel award.

Hay NSW Lions C grade defeat Macorna Tigers in Pride ROund.

The goalies were on point with their shooting and really utilised the ring, giving Lisa Lund the DG Harrison’s award. Job well done to all the players with a well-deserved win.

Under 17 by Jade Auldist - Hay 65 defeated Macorna 37.

In the Pride Round, U17 continued their undefeated streak with a dominant 65-37 win against Macorna on Saturday.

Lions came out strong in the first quarter, establishing a commanding lead they maintained throughout the game.

The team's adaptability was on full display as they seamlessly adjusted to positional changes, showcasing their teamwork, skill, and dedication to the game.

Emily Caughey earned the Peter Mullins Building Award for her tireless and strong performance in Goal Defence.

Sophie Tapper and Matilda Nisbet shared the Murrumbidgee Realestate Award for Players' Player.

Sophie's accurate shooting and movement around the goal circle were impressive, while Matilda's versatility shone as she excelled in multiple positions throughout the game.

Kodi Scott received the Active Farmers Award for her relentless effort and unwavering commitment to the game.

Kodi’s rebounding and defensive pressure in Goal Keeper and Wing Defence were instrumental in the win.

Poppy Barnes was honoured with the Spirit of Pride award.

This award, sponsored by the Hay Mardi Gras, is for a player who consistently supports and uplifts their teammates and fosters a welcoming environment for all.

Poppy's unwavering support and positive attitude made her a deserving recipient of this award. The Hay Lions U17 success is a testament to their exceptional teamwork, skill, and dedication.

Under 14 by Hannah Stewart - Hay 53 defeated Macorna 12.

Lions had a fantastic win against the Macorna Tigers for the second time this season, with a massive score of 53 - 12.

The team used this game as an opportunity to trial new duos and switch up positions to create further depth in the team as they start to prepare for finals.

Training efforts are really paying off, team was able to apply and execute multiple different set plays that they practice at training which proved too difficult for the opposition.

The player’s player votes were a true reflection of everyone’s efforts on the day.

They were very evenly spread resulting in a three-way tie between Tilly Weeks, Poppy Barnes and Indi Phillips.

Awards were Tilly Weeks - Lund Contracting, Indi Phillips - Hay Calisthenics, Poppy Barnes - Hay Newsagency.

Evie Crighton received a special award from the umpires which was the Spirit of Pride Award, awarded to a player that demonstrates great teamwork and sportsmanship.

Under 12 - by Katie Howard - Hay 12 defeated Macorna 3.

The under 12 team, led by Sophie Griffiths and Angel Clarke, displayed an outstanding performance in their match against Macorna, ultimately securing a well-deserved win.

Sophie Griffiths' exceptional talent on the court shone through as she not only received Lions Canteen Umpires award but also the recognition from her fellow teammates, earning the Active Farmers Players' Player award.

Angel Clarke's exceptional defensive skills did not go unnoticed, as she was presented with the M & S Bus Services Coaches award for her remarkable contributions to the team's success.

The team worked together really well and used their netball channels effectively. Everyone played their part and helped the team succeed.

The players supported each other and played really well as a team.

Big congratulations to the whole team for winning and showing great teamwork.

They all did an awesome job, and it's clear they worked hard and played their best.

This win is a testament to their hard work, skill, and determination.

Well done to all the players for a fantastic game and a well-deserved win.
