The powerhouse that is Jackson Bialobrzeski is being seen for his amazing contributions to his community.

At Commonwealth Day luncheon in parliament, the 19-year-old Jackson received the 2024 Tom Harvey Award alongside dual winner Jenna Smith.

An initiative of the Australian Youth Trust, the award recognises outstanding contributions of a young Australian citizen between the age of 15-30 years.

The award was presented by Her Excellency, the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC Governor of NSW.

Local member, Helen Dalton nominated Jackson for the award, acknowledging his passion as a community volunteer, striving to make Balranald and surrounds a better place, particularly for young people, to live, work and study.

“I was really surprised, and shocked, when I first heard about the award,” Jackson said. “It is a nationally recognised award, with many people nominated.

“I am so very grateful to be given the award. The most important thing to me is that we have put on as many events for local youth as possible, and gaining more amenities for young people in the area.

“I am also proud of the effort my team has put in over the past years, and am glad it will continue.”

Jackson has an impressive portfolio of achievements behind him, even at the age of 19.

He spent time accomplishing great things as Junior Mayor of Balranald, was instrumental in organising the Sounds and Scribbles Festival with Connie Mallet, a feat that took 18 months. He was announced Young Citizen of the Year in 2022.

Helen Dalton, Member for Murray, nominated Jackson for the award, due to his passion as a community volunteer, striving to make Balranald and surrounds a better place, particularly for young people, to live, work and study.

Jackson is currently studying Commerce at Deakin University, and is taking a gap year off. He will be travelling nationally, enjoying the sights and picking up work along the way.

Congratulations, Jackson. This is some well-deserved recognition for the wide variety of amazing activities you undertake and help with, and the amazing young person you are.
