Mad Max moves in

Base camp to rival any appears on the Hay Plains.

There is no more iconic Australian movie than Mad Max and there is no more iconic landscape than the Hay Plains.

For the past 18 months the old country town grapevine has been alive with rumours of Hollywood coming to the outback.

As the location base camp started to appear on the flat horizon, what had only been rumour appears now to be confirmed.

Many local businesses have already had confirmed bookings and the tent city adds further concrete to the rumours that have been swirling around town for 18 months.

It is estimated that the influx of crew could be worth as much as $12 million to the town.

Hay has ridden the COVID wave like many rural towns and the expected arrival of the production will not only be an incredible economic boost but a great morale boost too.
