Photo gallery - 2024 Hatfield Happenings

By Kimberly Grabham

The Riverine Grazier team travelled to the iconic Hatfield Hall last week to attend Hatfield Happenings for 2024. The theme of the event was ‘Her Horizons’.

The event was full of amazing women from all around the district, with the day being organised by the Balranald branch of the Isolated Children and Parents Association (ICPA).

Pictured above are the inspirational ladies who appeared on the panel for the event.

Tertia Butcher editor of The Riverine Grazier, Lisa O’Keefe of Koolaman Designs, Bree Wakefield from Banoon Station, Connie Mallett, well known Balranald identity and Marie Scott, of Belgium Park, Clare. These ladies shared their very different stories of adversity and survival.

Every year for decades, Balranald branch of Isolated Children’s and Parents’ Association hosts a special event. Hatfield Happening is a day of fun, friendship and laughter, with much achieved through the coming together of rural women.

This year there was a panel of strong rural women who have been through trials, tribulations and adversity. Through sharing their experiences, we learn they came through the other side boundlessly successful and powerful, with the knowledge experience brings.

Connection can be hard to come by in these isolated regions. Knowing you’re not alone, that other women feel the same way and going through the same things can make life feel a little less isolating. Hearing the stories of inspiring women, how they triumphed through different and difficult times can provide poignant inspiration.

Having a cuppa and a conversation with someone you have seen around, but only ever said hi to can make the world seem like a brighter, happier place. Not only were the speakers fascinating, but the company and food were second to none. A sea of delectable slices and 19 slow cookers holding sumptuous lunch time meals topped off the day.

The team at The Riverine Grazier felt inordinately grateful they made the journey to Hatfield Happenings. The team even stopped off to take a selfie at the front of the iconic Hatfield Pub on the way home.
