River level to peak at Hay next week

The Murrumbidgee River at Hay is expected to peak around seven metres mid to late this week.

This level is still within the minor flood level and will continue for several days after the peak is reached.

As at Monday morning, the river at Carrathool at 8am was 6.66 meters and is yet to peak, which will have a bearing on the peak level at Hay. Members of Hay SES will continue to monitor the river level for the SES and Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), and reported the river height at Hay at 10 am on Monday was 6.90 meters.

Road users are reminded not to enter past ‘road closed’ signs, nor enter flood waters at any time.

The access roads into Bushy Bend and Sandy Point are currently closed to vehicular traffic and the Tunes in the Sand concert on Friday evening has therefore been relocated to Hay Park.
