New Council announced

The new council for Hay Shire has been elected.

They are, in order of the ballot paper, Martyn Quinn, Jenny Dwyer, Peter Handford, Paul Porter, Carol Oataway, Peter Dwyer, Lionel Garner and Geoff Chapman.

Paul Porter and Geoff Chapman were elected without reaching quota when they polled marginally better than the unsuccessful candidates.

Five candidates were unsuccessful, with two of them – John Perry and Darren Clarke narrowly missing out.

The new council is expected to be led by Cr Jenny Dwyer as mayor.
