New Council declared

Following an application for a recount of the ballot, the eight successful candidates in the Hay Shire Council election have been declared. They are (in order of the ballot) Martyn Quinn, Jenny Dwyer, Peter Handford, Peter Dwyer, Carol Oataway, Lionel Garner, Paul Porter and Geoff Chapman. The first meeting of the new Council was held yesterday (Tuesday) where all councillors were required to take an oath or affirmation of office. Cr Jenny Dwyer was expected to return as Mayor, with the position of Deputy Mayor also determined, after The Grazier went to press. Councillors were encouraged to attend their first meeting in person, rather than via zoom as this would enable Council to conduct the elections by secret ballot, rather than by show of hands.
