Gemma is Hay 2021 Showgirl

Gemma Tassell was sashed Hay Show 2021 Showgirl on the weekend.

Two young women entered the competition this year with judges having the unenviable task of judging sisters Gemma and Lily Tassell. Both young women have been active in the Hay community over many years with their lives taking different paths since leaving school.

Lily is employed at Hay Children’s Services and hopes to achieve her Diploma in Early Childhood studies next year.

Gemma is currently employed at Harrison’s IGA and is studying a double degree for a Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at CSU at Wagga.

As the 2021 Hay Showgirl, Gemma will participate in a development weekend at Dubbo in early January and will then participate in regional judging at the Zone 7 Young Woman final being held in Ungarie on February 26.

The Zone Final will host young women from across the Riverina and South West region of NSW with two entrants to be selected to attend the State final of the Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman at Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Hay Show committee was thrilled to have two entrants in the competition this year and encourage young women to consider entering the competition next year. With the anticipated return of the Hay Show in September the committee is looking forward to an exciting 2022.
