2023 Carrathool Races

‘Bedazzled held on to win the 2023 Carrathool Cup, ahead of ‘Eamonn’s Memory.’

Scorching weather didn’t stop Carrathool races patron coming out in droves.

Attendees came from Hay, Griffith and surrounding areas, with an option to fly in if you chose, with a marked airstrip at the course.

Charging along the finishing line to win the Carrathool Cup was ‘Bedazzled’, trained by Phil Sweeney of Jerilderie, hotly pursued by ‘Eamonn’s Memory’, a New Zealand horse trained by Andrew Dale of Wangaratta.

Maurice Gibson’s horse, ‘Magic Jack’, trained by Phil Sweeny, also had a successful day.

‘Magic Jack’ is the fourth generation of horses owned by Maurice Gibson to race and win at Carrathool.

‘Bloomingdale’ was the dam of ‘Nelanjie’, who was the dam of Armadala’, who was the dam of ‘Magic Jack’.

Neil John Nisbet trained two of the horses, with Peter Clancy also training one.

RivCott Cotton Gin were the major sponsors of the races. Gold Sponsors were Grain Link, B and N Proud/Elders, Warburn Estate.

Silver Sponsors were Terra Ag, TA Field Estates, Gundaline, Cooinbil, Yara, ChikQuip, Gallager Insurance Brokers, Guilford Transport, Vitera, Jackaroo Dash - ACS Equip, Jillaroo Sprint - Nutrien.
