Cutters’ busy day with Rugby stars

Cutters enjoyed a bustling preseason event, with their AGM and Rugby on the Sand with the Brumbies.

Enjoying great attendance, representatives from ACT men’s and women’s Brumbies and Waratah teams led the day in a highly valued and fun training session. After this, everyone had a wonderful opportunity to catch up with a riverside barbecue.

Reports from the event were that the visitors were extremely friendly, accommodating, and the children especially had stars in their eyes meeting their idols.

Hay was so very fortunate to have this visit from some of Australia’s finest players, thanks to a grant through NSW Government’s Regional Events Acceleration Fund, which aims to support the social and economic recovery and prosperity of regional NSW.

The AGM yielded some pleasing results, with the announcement of the Cutters committee. Stalwart volunteers raised their hands for pivotal roles. Hugo Fraser took on the role of President, Sarah Houston once again took up the mantle for Whipper Snippers, and Nick White is the club’s Social Secretary. Congratulations to these volunteers for stepping up to take on positions, keeping community run organisations such as the Cutters thriving year after year.

The visiting teams then went on to attend a meet and greet in Griffith, hosted by Griffith Blacks Rugby Club, for ACT Brumbies and Waratahs, ahead of the game between the respective teams.

NSW Waratahs went down 31- 26 to the ACT Brumbies at Exies Sports Field in Griffith, in what was described as an amazing weekend and nail-biting match. ACT Brumbies will then go on to host a trial game against Melbourne Rebels next month at McDonald’s Park in Wagga Wagga, while the Waratahs take on the Queensland Reds at the annual Santos Festival of Rugby next Saturday, February 11 in Narrabri.
