Cutters Presentation 2022
Hay Cutters Rugby Union held its presentation day in conjunction with a 30-year reunion, and ten-year reunion for 2012 players.
Celebrating both a superlative season and 30 years of Rugby Union in Hay, Ken White, a former Hay teacher, travelled from Newcastle to mark the milestone. He delivered a speech from himself and Matt Dedassell, both men being founding members of the Club.
“We had a great season, being top of the ladder, and making it to the finals, and then being narrowly defeated in extra time, opponent scoring last minute on the bell,” Coach Matt Ireson said.
“Cutters had many highlights of the season; going to Wagga with only 13 men and coming out with the win, facing off with Marcus Oldham, which was a good game with a good crowd, and remaining undefeated at home for the last two years.
“Harry Agar was the clear Best and Fairest winner in mine and Ed Lilburne’s eyes. “He has a consistent boot, and is strong in both attack and defence.
“A big thank-you to all of our sponsors, everyone who donated, to the committee, and to Rob Neill, who has been there from the start and is always there. “All players should be very proud, we had a great season, and here’s to an even bigger and better season in 2023.”
Will Nadin sang the praises of the team for which he is captain, and remarked that they had an outstanding year.
“Harry is a good player, a big tough one, and one of the best defenders in the game,” Will said.
“Peter’s good, quick and elusive, really there is not a player on the team that isn’t outstanding, and should all be equally proud of the season we had.”
Not only was it a fantastic event, celebrating many achievements and milestones, it was a successful auction, with approximately $5000 being raised, which was used to purchase a bus from the Hay Lions Football Club.
