Lions shine at League awards

Hay Lions AFL and Netball Club was well represented at the Golden Rivers Football League Awards night, held last week.

Talented netball player Ruby Cattanach took home two league awards, for under 17s most valuable player and the 2022 best and fairest.

Premiership player Daniel Stewart took home the under 17s best and fairest award, which he shared with Charlie Fawcett from Nullawil.

Grand final team mate Jensen Hargreaves won the under 17s goal kicking award, booting a massive 46 goals for the season, five goals clear of second place.

Brother Kenny Hargreaves was named runner up in the leagues coveted Rookie of the Year Award, won by Jordan McNeill from Murrabit.

The dedication and commitment of Katie Howard was celebrated with a dedication award from the league.

Senior players also featured among the award winners. Back in the netball awards evergreen Trish Jamieson placed third in the B reserve grade best and fairest ladder.

Lions stalwart Bill Auldist was second in the reserve grade most valuable player and third overall in the league best and fairest.
