Victorious Under 7 Magpies (back row from left) coach Emily Dunn, Ella Books, Joss Tarsoly, Isabella Martin, Eden Payne, Harper Sorensen and coach Delesa Payne. Front row Emilia Moran, Sophie Dowse, Brianna Cox and Milani Payne.

A large crowd of Hay supporters cheered the Magpies under 7 league tag team on to a thrilling premiership win over Griffith Black & White Panthers on Saturday.

The under 7’s started off strong in the first half with Hay players moving up quickly in defence to hold the Panthers out to 8 tries to 5 at half time.

The girls played hard and moved up together in defence.

Sophie Dowse, Isabella Martin and Eden Payne were forceful in both defence and attacking.

Brianna Cox didn’t let her size get the better of her as she put her body on the line and ran straight through the Panthers to score a spectacular try.

After some good progression up the field and a striking ball set up by Harper Sorensen, Emilia Moran crossed over the line.

Ella Books played her best game this year crashing over the line for three tries, showing that hard work and dedication pays off.

Milani Payne threw herself at the opposition making some astonishing try saving tags and her never-give-up attitude kept everyone in the game.

Hay’s upcoming superstar Joss Tarsoly was on fire with her tagging from start to finish, and made a total of 34 tags for the day.

Final score: Hay Magpies 15 - Griffith Black & Whites 7.

“On behalf of the coaches, we would like to thank the under 7 girls for such a fun filled season, and to their families for all the support they have showed us throughout,” Emily Dunn, coach said.
