Hay Lions kick off season 2022

AFL

Golf Hay Lions Football and Netball Club recently held a successful annual general meeting, attracting more than 20 committee members.

George Auldist was returned as President, supported by Mitch Busch as Vice President and Ben Gardiner as Junior Vice. Long-serving club Secretary Jade Auldist will be assisted by Sarah Houston, in the role of Game Day Secretary, Lani Houston as Treasurer and Linda Stewart in charge of publicity.

The Lions have taken the proactive step in creating a traineeship in sports administration, in partnership with Hay Cricket Association.

“The paid role will include training and mentoring and aims to upskill a community member and create future pathways for local sport,” Mrs Auldist told The Grazier.

A trio of Hay Lions talent have successfully taken part in the Northern Territory Football League, during the Hay off season. Luke Arandt has appeared for Waratahs in the senior men’s division, while siblings Jack and Fergus Cattanach have enjoyed solid success, playing for the same club.

Coaching appointments for the 2022 season are expected to be announced soon.
