On Friday night prior to the T20 Final, a few of Hay’s female cricketers had a great game of cricket, team Blue taking on team Red.

Team Blue went in to bat first.

Dim Comb smashed the ball around for a few early fours.

Abby and Maggie Shields had a good partnership ticking the strike over.

Alice Caldow bowled well making batters work hard for runs while Linda Caldow had the ball chasing her around the field.

Lani Houston bowled well getting a wicket.

Hannah Jamieson and Rachel Taylor both bowled and fielded well.

At the end of the innings the blue team had made 76.

In reply, red team started strongly with Alice and Linda in a good opening partnership, facing Lily Tassell and Maggie who opened the bowling. In the second over Maggie bowled a ball on Linda’s legs, with Linda hitting it in the air down to fine leg.

Emily Caughey dived to her right at fine leg for a brilliant one-handed catch.

Emily then took up the ball, bowling well and taking a catch off her own bowling.

Katie Howard and Ruby Cattanach had a good batting partnership ticking the score over.

Lucinda Williamson fielded very well.

Poppy Barnes played some nice shots picking up some runs.

After a slow scoring pace early, the red team came back, almost reaching the Blue total but just falling 4 runs short scoring 72.

Overall, it was a great game enjoyed by all.

Thanks to Lily Tassell for getting the girls cricket going, and Mick and Bruce for umpiring.
