$2M pool promise

A re-elected Coalition Government will deliver a new lease of life to Hay’s Swimming Complex, investing $2 million towards its reconstruction.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Barnaby Joyce, said the project would include new pools, filtration equipment, solar heating, recreational facilities and landscaping.

“The local pool is the heartbeat of many regional communities, bringing people together and catering for schools, community groups and sporting teams,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Member for Farrer, Sussan Ley announced the funding during her visit to Hay on Thursday and said it represented the next stage of Hay Shire Council’s broader upgrade of the Hay Water Activity Precinct.

“Having visited Hay regularly, I know how important this project is to the community, and I know this will make an enormous contribution to the area,” Minister Ley said.

“As well as new pools, solar heating and facilities, the new complex will include the latest energy efficient designs including recycled water, battery electricity supply, water saving devices.
