Hay Cutters are grand final bound this Saturday, following a stellar season in the Southern Inland Rugby Union competition.

Hay’s rugby inion team will be looking to secure back-to-back premierships when they meet Griffith Blacks in Wagga Wagga on Saturday.

Hay Magpies hosted Darlington Point Coleambally (DPC) Roosters at Hay Park on Sunday, for the final Group 20 rugby league home game of the season.

Hay Cutters ran onto their home ground to take on Wagga Agricultural College (WAC) on Saturday. The score at the final whistle was sitting at 45-10.

Hay Cutters Rugby Union’s junior club, the Wipper Snippers, celebrated 10 years last weekend at a well-attended gala day at Hay Park. Opponents traveled from Wagga Wagga, Grenfell and Leeton to tackle the celebrating Whipper Snippers.

Hay Magpies rugby league first grade squad played a gruelling match under lights against Griffith Black & Whites on Saturday night, posting the team’s first win for the Group 20 2024 season.

Coach Ben Taylor directed the team in the grinding game, in wet and slippery conditions at Hay Park, and it was his goal kicking the difference, but was humble in his post-game wrap up

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Taylor. “We got 100 per cent effort from our core unit.

The local AFL competition top of the table clash did not disappoint when Hay met Ultima on Saturday.

Hay, with no imports available, relied on a local contingency to take it up to Ultima. Ultima had a few out with injury, and took the opportunity to blood some younger players to face the senior Lions for the first time.

Last Saturday, the ProTen Community Cup was taken to the home of the Bluebirds, Hillston. Again, the Ivanhoe Roosters and Hens side showed they are only getting stronger. Both teams were able to fend off the Goolgowi Rabbitohs in show down fashion.
